Founded upon the division of the Santiago league into North and South, the Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Norte (ARFSN) facilitates multiple competitions each year. This includes a qualifying league, regional championship (1st and 2nd divisions) and regional cup whose winners go on to compete in the national championship and cup competition, respectively. ARFSN hosts a SuperTaça, or Supercup, between the prior year’s regional champions and regional cup winners.

Games are played at the Estádio de Cumbém in Assomada. There has yet to be a national champion from Santiago Norte but CD Scorpion Vermelho and GD Varandinha have represented the league the most on the national stage with each winning the regional league 5 times.
